Before and After Staging: The Importance of Decluttering Your Home for Pictures

by | Aug 2, 2013

A seller who was referred to me gave me a call a few months back.  He was not getting any showings on his home currently for sale, not understanding why, and hoping I might be able to give him some insight into the situation.  I was very honored by his trust and set in to do some research and see if there was anything I could do to help!

As I pulled up the listing in the MLS, the largest issues became very apparent – the pictures. The home was located in Henderson, NC which is slightly further out, meaning that people will be less willing to easily make the drive for a showing, ESPECIALLY if it doesn’t look like something they will like from the pictures, and these pictures weren’t selling it.

I helped the seller understand an important aspect of staging a home for sale: de-cluttering the home and emptying rooms of extra furniture before retaking new pictures to show the home in its best light. Take a look at the before and after staging photos below. The difference a small amount of work can do is incredible!

With a few other small changes, we were able to get people in the home for showings and UNDER CONTRACT!
