Hi, I’m Mike Regan. My wife Stacey and I moved to the Raleigh area in 1995. Our son Jackson arrived in 1998, and our daughter Julia in 2000. When we aren’t process-improving Relevate Real Estate, we are doing as many fun things as possible together before Jackson and Julia have families of their own, and getting the original four of us together becomes a lot more challenging. This is us in the “Gothic Quarter” of Barcelona last summer…
I met Stacey at Kodak in Rochester, NY in 1988, where I was in charge of an experimental film manufacturing department. We moved to Raleigh because it snows and rains too much in Rochester. When we arrived here I started an operations research consulting firm called Everest Consulting, and worked with clients in many different industries to do process improvement: improving quality and decreasing costs for their customers. I wrote two books during that time which helped the consulting firm be very successful:
I sold the consulting firm (and the rights to the books) and got into real estate in 2004 because (1) I didn’t want be away from my family so much (consulting = travel) and (2) I was just BORED. We had process-improved our consulting process and made it very efficient and effective for our clients, but I was ready for something new.
I started at RE/MAX and sold 24 homes my first year. I immediately noticed how much the real estate process itself could benefit from process improvement, for the benefit of buyers and sellers, AND agents. So I started an indepedent firm so I would be free to apply operations research and process improvement thinking to the real estate brokerage process. I was able to personally test and experience all the process improvements we made as an active agent from 2004-2020, in the process of personally selling over 750 homes myself as an agent.
