The Publicus Community – Advertising and Public Relations

128 E. Hargett Street, Suite 203A

Raleigh, NC 27601

Why Raleigh?

I grew up outside of Charlotte, so the Triangle was never a foreign place to me, but I didn’t officially make the move here until 2011 when I launched my firm, The Publicus Community.   The economy was slowly starting to recover, and of all the places in North Carolina least hurt by the 2009 meltdown, Raleigh seemed the perfect spot.   Access to top talent and robust network, coupled with a first-class airport and easy access to major cities, were high on the list of needs – the Triangle met them all.

Tell us about The Publicus Community

Early in my career I’d been working as a technical writer, then as a public relations specialist in Medical and Pharma, but I didn’t find my calling until 2005, when I discovered what would become my niche with a South Carolina based luxury real estate marketing & sales firm.

My work there took me to places all over the globe, where I developed a true passion and talent for the concept, design, and marketing execution for luxury real estate destinations.

I was drawn to the Raleigh area and saw this town as a great place to venture out on my own and continue doing what I loved.  I picked up and moved to Raleigh, a place where I’d read entrepreneurs thrive in starting their own businesses, and launched  The Publicus Community . Over the past six years we’ve represented marketing strategies for over 30 real estate developments from throughout the U.S., the Caribbean and Mexico winning multiple awards for our work and well, the rest is history!

I am honored Publicus Community has been awarded one of the Triangle’s Top Public Relations and Web Design Firms by Triangle Business Journal for the past five years.

Peter’s Favorite Things to Do in Raleigh

  • Hot Yoga at Open Door – it’s incredible ~ but be prepared to sweat!
  • La Rancherita Grill & Tequila Bar – one of my favorite neighborhood spots!
  • Summers at Durham Bulls Baseball Games
  • Treasure hunting at the State Fairground Flea Market – Always a great place to find cool new items and people watch.

Advice to NEWCOMERS moving here?

The Triangle is a special place. People throughout the area are genuinely rooting for you to succeed ~ it’s rare to find a place like that.

Embrace that attitude and meet your neighbors. I think you’ll find that some the most authentic people you will ever come across are right here!
