#GetRaleighFit

I moved to the Triangle in 2007. My advice for newcomers is to get connected. One great way to do that is to look at your interests and then find a meetup group that is doing that activity. It is easier to get connected in a group of people with common interests. Secondly, get connected by talking to the pros. Look to a top real estate agent or health coach in the area. They will leverage their networks to help you get connected.

Nourish is a fitness club located in downtown Raleigh. We founded it with the mission of “Getting Raleigh Fit.” Seven out of 10 Americans are overweight. Our goal is to make as big of a dent in that as possible. We do this by providing free fitness programs (eight per week) and free fitness and nutrition education and coaching support. We want to equip people to make good choices. We are not here to replace gyms – We are here to empower those that may feel intimidated or even scared of the gym environment. We also provide corporate services to employers through our lunch and learn education program. We bring in a healthy lunch and talk about nutrition and fitness with employees. Come try us out and take our FIT Challenge; a four week fitness and nutrition challenge with cash prizes and healthy competition.

My top tip for success is decide – make a decision and then … DO IT – be consistent. Most success stories are not attractive or sexy. They are tedious and repetitious. Stick with it. My favorite things to do in the Triangle are to attend our FIT Camp Workouts, Hurricanes Games, and walking downtown Raleigh. My favorite restaurant is Gravy in downtown Raleigh.
