I’ve lived in Raleigh my whole life (Cary area) and love the proximity to the mountains and beach. After graduating from UNC Wilmington, my now wife and I spent 6 months in the Czech Republic teaching English in a 16th century castle for Charles University. When an opportunity became available with the YMCA we returned to the area to start our family. After 20 years of marriage we are proud parents of twin eleven year old girls. My parents and sister have also remained in the Triangle and together our family enjoys surfing, golfing and snowboarding.
I am currently a Regional Vice President with the YMCA of the Triangle. My main responsibility is overseeing the daily operations of the four North and East Wake branches including support of our annual and capital campaigns which raise money to distribute back into the communities we serve.
Our mission at the YMCA is to put Christian Principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Having worked with the YMCA since 1989 one of the most rewarding parts of my job is to see families grow through YMCA programs that have made a generational impact.
Some of my favorite things to do in the triangle include riding my motorcycle on our beautiful back roads, playing guitar at my church and coaching and playing soccer.
My top tip for success would be to get out and get involved. Join a local organization such as; church, mother’s morning out, Rotary and other civic clubs. Although it takes a little effort to get plugged in you’ll find great reward in the fellowship and networking opportunities that will foster future friendships.
