I love living in Chapel Hill! My children thrive here, and I’m able to run a successful business while balancing my time with volunteering for causes I love. We moved here from Florida in 2005, just after we were married. After renting for three years, we bought an adorable house near Southern Village, and just off the center of campus.

I always tell newcomers to spend their weekends exploring the outdoors. I’ve been here eight years and I feel like I’ve only found a small percentage of the outside fun that the Triangle has to offer. Near us I like the playgrounds In Carrboro, specifically Wilson Park. I also love bringing the family rock climbing at the city-owned rock climbing gym at Community Center Park.

Since my business—copyediting and copywriting—tends to be a solitary one, I give as much time as I can to local charitable organizations. Getting me out from behind my desk and helping those in need is a win-win! I serve on the board of the Community Home Trust, I am prominent in the Frank Porter Graham Bilingue PTA, my family serves as a foster home for pets through the Independent Animal Rescue, and I answer the phones for an organization that helps women find healthcare. I love that so many of my peers are philanthropically inclined, and I think it’s a testament to our area that it draws in such wonderful people.

If you are coming to eat in Chapel Hill and Carrboro, be sure to eat at Bagel Bar for the best Bagels south of Manhattan. For lunch head to Fosters Market on MLK, then for dinner don’t miss Fiesta Grill for the best Mexican in the States.
