I moved to Raleigh 20 years ago when my husband Patrik, then a pilot, was relocated to this area. I love that Raleigh is a big city with a small-town feel.

My advice to newcomers is that while the Triangle continues to grow, it is still a great place for both families and young people alike.

Raleigh Brewing Company is a family and pet friendly brewery located across the street from Meredith College. Our philosophy is to create a beertopia in Raleigh. Our beers are exclusive to the Triangle area and we self-distribute locally. We also have a Brew Supply company, attached to our brewery, which includes a nice inventory of beer and wine making supplies. Every fourth Saturday we hold a Big Brew Raleigh gathering, where we welcome local area home brewers to use our facility to brew their own creation of beers and share their flavors with others.

Whether you are in the brewery business, or any other business, my tips for success would be to create knowledgeable business partners. There are so many experts in this area who want to see local businesses grow. And for anyone opening their own business . . . location, location, location!

Our favorite things to do in the Triangle, other than making some of Raleigh’s finest brews, is to really enjoy all the local events and outdoor activities in this area – Carolina Hurricanes games, Durham Bulls baseball, and Fayetteville Street food truck rallies. My favorite restaurants include Gravy, and for a quick bite close to home Lynnwood Grill is a good bet. And of course, you can never go wrong with Angus Barn.
