Mexican food with a side of art and excitement

I think it’s safe to say I’m a regular at Dos Taquitos Mexican restaurant off Creedmoor Rd. in Raleigh.

I eat there at least once a week and the owner not only knows me by name, but usually greets me with a hug.

The owner is Carlos Salamanca who is also known for his eclectic bead artwork called Huichol art. I’ve never heard of this before so it was interesting to learn about it and see him in action.

Right now he’s working on beading a van that will soon be a spot where his customers can sit and eat. I can’t wait to try it out once it’s finished.

The entire restaurant has a unique décor – to say the least. During a recent visit here with some of my co-workers we got quite the surprise when a toy scorpion dropped down on our booth.

I’m not going to tell you what booth we were in because I don’t want to ruin the surprise for other guests.

Not only does Dos Taquitos have great mexican food, but the wait staff is friendly and you’re sure to be educated and entertained. That’s something you can’t order just anywhere in the Triangle.
